Michael Counahan
Associate Director
Michael is one of the original founders of CHL and has over 35 years of professional experience in tourism, cultural heritage, the arts and education, in Ireland and internationally. Michael’s work encompasses strategic and business planning, marketing, market research, economic analysis, and project review and management.
He has a particularl expertise in visitor attractions, having been closely involved with Titanic Belfast project from first assembling and leading the team that originally devised it, then acting as project coordinator through the detailed design planning, funding, operations planning, and pre-opening operations stages. He was also a founder of the Association of Visitor Attractions and Experiences.
Michael studied economics at Trinity College Dublin, holds a post-graduate degree in law and is a fellow, and past-President, of the IMCA. He is currently a Director on the Board of Tourism Northern Ireland.
